Generative AI Engineer
We’re looking for a Kuala Lumpur-based Generative AI Engineer to build the AI at the core of what Amast does. Amast builds AI-powered software that runs the operations businesses depend on — and AI isn’t a bolt-on for us, it’s the product. Think Lens, where customers ask their data anything in plain language. You’ll design, build, and ship the LLM-powered features that make our software genuinely intelligent.
About the role
In this role you will:
- Build production LLM features — retrieval-augmented generation, agents, and natural-language interfaces — that turn messy enterprise data into clear answers and actions.
- Design and refine prompts, pipelines, and evaluations, and ship improvements based on real usage, not guesswork.
- Work with structured and unstructured data — databases, documents, dashboards — to ground models in each customer’s reality.
- Integrate models (Anthropic, OpenAI, open-weight) behind clean, reliable, cost-aware APIs, with guardrails that keep outputs safe enough for enterprise.
- Own quality end to end: measure accuracy, latency, and cost, and take AI features from prototype to something customers depend on.
Requirements
- 3+ years in software engineering, with hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered features to production
- Strong Python, and comfort with the modern GenAI stack (LangChain/LlamaIndex or equivalent, vector databases, embeddings)
- Real experience with RAG, prompt engineering, and building and evaluating agents
- A solid grasp of the tradeoffs between accuracy, latency, and cost — and how to measure them
- Experience with APIs from Anthropic, OpenAI, or open-weight models, plus strong backend fundamentals
- Experience fine-tuning models, working with tabular data, or a background in analytics/BI is a plus
